Product Overview
Bicinchoninic Acid (BCA) is a highly sensitive colorimetric reagent widely used for protein concentration determination. In alkaline conditions, proteins reduce Cu²⁺ to Cu⁺ through the biuret reaction, and BCA subsequently forms a stable purple-colored complex with Cu⁺. The color intensity is directly proportional to the protein concentration and can be measured spectrophotometrically at 562 nm.
BCA is the key component of the widely used BCA Protein Assay Kit and is extensively applied in protein quantification, enzyme research, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical research and diagnostic reagent development.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Bicinchoninic Acid (BCA) used for?
BCA is primarily used for protein quantification in the BCA Protein Assay and is widely applied in molecular biology, biochemistry and protein research.
How does the BCA Protein Assay work?
Under alkaline conditions, proteins reduce Cu²⁺ to Cu⁺. Bicinchoninic Acid then reacts with Cu⁺ to form a purple complex that is measured at 562 nm, allowing accurate determination of protein concentration.
What are the advantages of the BCA assay?
The BCA assay offers high sensitivity, excellent reproducibility, a broad linear range and good compatibility with many detergents commonly used in protein extraction.
How should Bicinchoninic Acid be stored?
Store the product in a cool, dry place at 2–8°C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
Do you provide OEM packaging?
Yes. SANYU GROUP provides OEM labeling, customized packaging and bulk supply services for distributors, biotechnology companies, diagnostic reagent manufacturers and research laboratories.
